New Year, New Accolades
Posted in Cork News on 25/01/2018
Last November I wrote and shared my first blog. But between promoting our lovely Cork and ‘second album syndrome,’ there hasn’t been another. So rather than be a one (kind of hit) wonder here goes!
2018 has kicked off very impressively for Cork Convention Bureau! At the Cork Business Association awards on January 20th, we received ‘Best overall medium business award 2017.’ But what we also received was a standing ovation from an audience of over 400 of Cork’s business and industry stalwarts. To say we are humbled is an understatement! To receive this accolade from our colleagues and peers makes it all the more impressive and is a fantastic achievement. As one journalist commented on social media ‘it couldn’t happen to a better team – working miracles with their resources’. Thank you, Cork Business Association – we are honoured.
So back to business – it’s a new year and a new focus. We all aim to be more efficient and explore new areas, new sectors we can look at as growth hubs maybe? ‘Connecting Cork,’ as our local Chamber’s very clever initiative says.
But yesterday someone who was reviewing our services asked me, ‘what’s the hook that makes Cork Convention Bureau different? Why would a meeting planner, especially an International one, who can choose any global location, choose Cork and choose to work with us?’
Cork’s hook is that it is now a business destination that is really making waves. Cork Convention Bureau’s hook is that we are a 3 person team, eager to help and will do so with local conviviality. Your call won’t be waiting and you won’t get a lacklustre response. We have the support of strong local stakeholders plus our National Tourism Body, Failte Ireland, and we get things done. As one of our recent ambassadors said ‘You guys do a lot of thanking other people for organising this conference and that but it cuts both ways – the success of recent years is a shared one, and your team are an integral part.’ And all of our services are free of charge! We’ll even provide the coffee.
So rather than letting me wax lyrical any longer, get in touch and let us help you win that next conference or event for Cork.
